Summary James Henry Hammond (1807-1864) was born at Stoney Battery, South Carolina to Elisha (1774-1829) and Catherine Fox Spann Hammond (1785-1864). In 1831 he married Catherine Elizabeth Fitzsimons (1814-1896). They had eight children. Their son James Henry (Harry) Hammond (1832-1916) was born in South Carolina. He married Emily Cumming (1834-1911) in 1859 and they had five children.
