Summary There are over 700 letters in this impressive collection, to more than fifty recipients, dating from Larkin's late teens until close to his death at the age of sixty-three. He never stopped writing letters, whatever other writing droughts he suffered. Early letters to school friends including the writer Kingsley Amis form a portrait of the young artist, full of jazz, literature and obscenities; later correspondents include Barbara Pym, Robert Conquest, and his editors Faber and Faber, especially Charles Montieth.
